Hi there,
I am a newbie to the pokemon world and I recently started playing Pokemon HeartGold. I searched a lot for a good emulator since I did not know that I would have to switch from mGBA. I finally settled on desmume and later realised that I cant trade with myself. I found that only melonDS could help me with that but when I launched it I found that I had to use some useless(sorry) BIOS and firmware files. So I decided to continue with Desmume. I now have reached Saffron city which is more like 50% of the whole game. Now I found that I can actually acquire those useless BIOS files from the net and so I configured melonDS. However, now I can't transfer progress from desmume to melonDS. I looked on the net and found that unlike DraStic, melonDS cannot read the progress from the .nds file itself. I am supposed to use a 512kb .sav file. However, when I export backup memory into .sav file and then load state in melonDS it says Load State failed. I cannot find any proper answer for this and now my only way is to ask a question myself. Update So I found that I need to keep the .sav file and .nds file in the same folder and then wait for the animation after which I get to choose between New Game and Continue game. However now I get an error 52000 when I try to set up my connection. Which means that my purpose of trying melonDS remains unsolved. I even changed the DNS to the popular ones. The error is as follows: "unable to obtain an IP address. Move within range of access point or check DHCP settings" P.S. I am using a private wifi network. Please help me because I so so so soooooo want to play HeartGold and complete my Pokedex. Thanks |

I have enabled Direct Mode.
I use melonDS 0.9. And I have no idea why you have included a quote there but thanks for responding  |

I meant you should turn direct mode off. Also if you only want to trade Pokemon to evolve them or to get Pokemon from other versions you can also avoid wifi connection alltogether. For this open melonDS twice, disable MAC randomisation, the frame limiter and audio sync. Local wireless emulation is still unstable, so it might take a few tries until you traded a Pokemon. Also I don't know how well it works if you use the same savefile twice. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! Okay so I tried your method and I have the following questions:
Do I switch off bind socket to any address? I am running the same progress i.e. same ROM and savefile but they are in different folders so I guess that shouldn't be a problem but do advise me on that. How do I switch off audio sync? You said it is still unstable, so how unstable. I mean I have tried entering the Union room thrice and I have not been able to see myself let alone trade. Also, do you think it would be possible to help me out with the WiFi altogether so that I don't face problems? Thanks |

Okay but could you help me by fixing the wifi settings
I mean fix the WFC so that I don't need to depend on LAN which as you said is unstable Thanks |
