Just something I found out with lots of trial and error, not sure if it's a bug or not. Hopefully will help someone else if they run into it.
I was trying to transfer my raw .sav file of Chrono Trigger and load it to melonDS, but it wouldn't load. It would just be stuck at the "initialize save fie" screen. Noticed melonDS generated 64kb save files for Chrono Trigger, but my original .sav file was 512kb. For it to load I had to use a hexeditor (HxD) and selected blocks 10000 to 80000 (guessing these blocks are just empty data) to trim it down to the correct file size of 64kb, and now it's working properly. It's essentially the same fix for the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Sky in the Howto/FAQ. |

we determine the save type based on it's size, which sometimes leads to problems like this. We plan to add an option to import savefiles which trims them automatically. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go!
