Not sure if the 0.9 released had fixed this bug or not, but just wanted to bring it to attention that this still does occur. I had the game running for about, 30 minutes with C-Gear open. The game is Pokemon Black 2, with no cheats or anything used. I also noticed before this, when i went into the GTS just to try something, it said that no access point was found. I was maybe about 1-2 minutes into opening the game as well.

there has been some progress on this bug. We mostly solved it, it's due to an unimplemented detail in the wifi hw we still need to figure out a few things about before implementing it. Other DS emulators don't suffer from because it can only happen if some kind of signal (like the simulated access point in melonDS) is received.

Great to hear! This is probably the best emulator I have used cause of the simple wifi connectivity, with most games running perfectly fine. I'm using my school laptop with only a i5-8250u and UHD 620, and I can run most games at about 5x internal with no lag at all. This makes me happy that these bugs are getting fixed.

Hello!

Any updates on this or any workarounds?
I'm in a bigger pickle than normal with this situation, cause I'm using the Retroarch core of MelonDS. I don't know what the consensus of the core is, but I didn't realize until a good bit into Pokémon Black that I can't actually save and get a proper SAV file.

To make the situation even worse, I can't load the Retroarch save states in the MelonDS emulator even though they are the same file size (I did disable Retroarchs compression).

Trying to disable the C Gear just gets stuck like this.

Is there any way for me to get saving to work and get an actual SAV file out of my playthrough?

Cheers!

Edit: Already gave up on this so don't bother unless you have something to gain from this yourself :)

Very same issue here in Pokémon black 2
Apparently this happens when I'm randomly playing then the WFC signal randomly dies, if the WFC signal is still fine, the game does save normally, but once the signal randomly dies for whatever reason, saving becomes impossible and the date gets weird...

the same exact thing is happening to me. the game will freeze if i try to save on pokemon white.

running pokemon white with no cheats. The same issue happens to me where if I try to save it randomly just freezes and i have to close the game and either go to my last save file from the game itself, or open another save state. As a solution to this I thought of maybe just using save states instead of saving. The problem arises in the form of when I want to open a save file the game will just crash and not open it. Itll take me more than 10 to 20 tries to finally get the save state to open. So I pretty much can not close the emulator because I cant rely on the game saving nor the save states working. Extremely frustrating but I cant do much about it. If there is a fix please lmk. If screenshots are necessary I can provide them but it seems like others have expressed the same concern over this issue. It seems like the save state will not open unless I have saved in game then after that create the save state. You can see where the issue arises since saving does not work 90% of the time. I am on the latest version of Melon as far as im aware, 0.9.2, so if anything can be done by me to maybe troubleshoot it please lmk. Thank you.

Try disabling the C-Gear BEFORE actually starting the game.
On this screen, press no.

and on this screen, press yes.

Tested right now and I could only replicate this problem once with the C-Gear turned on, I recommend always leaving it off until the problem is solved.

I also have this problem, I just can't show prints because my computer doesn't have this function working, but it's basically the same thing, date and time with question marks instead of numbers, when I turn off the C-Gear and the game crashes, time does not progress.
I wanted an answer that wasn't changing emulators or doing the thing they said that starts at 1 hour, but then takes 8 hours and only increases the time to fix the bug.
I did some of the things they said in the answers above but none of them really helped, I actually wanted an update that would help with this issue.

Alright, so i have the same issue in Pokemon Black 2, albeit on the early access mobile version, but not the point. What i wanted to notice is this bug also messes with some other more unexpected stuff, such as, if after this bug occuring you are in Virbank City, you won't be able to sail to Castellia, the game will freezee if you try. You are able to sail to Virbank normally but you cannot sail to Castellia which almost made me soft lock, so beware of that. You are actually able to easly play the game if you don't need time based features but you are propably going to have your season and maybe time of day never change. If i find any other weird obscure stuff this messes with i'll update as a warning

the bug should happen in a bunch of situations wheret the arm9 syncs with the arm7 without an interrupt so it leaves the wifi firmware.
