Greetings all,
So I've been doing some ROM tests with a DSi, DeSMUme and melonDS. What I noticed is that the audio quality varies from default, to near perfect, to bothersome. The issue is quite detectable in the first two minutes of play. On melonDS, there's a lot of popping from the music and sounds of events within the game. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with FPS or video rendering as far as I can tell (frames stay stable). The issue is intermittent also, which is a bugger. This is of course in comparison to the DSi that I'm using where I don't run into the issue. It's also present when compared with DeSMUme. So in DeSMUme, when first running the ROM, I ran into low frames and the same popping/dragging sound issue. When I went into the settings there I did two things: Under emulation settings, I made sure 'Enable Advanced Bus-Level Timing' was enabled; Also enabled 'Use Dynamic Recompiler' and left that setting at 100. Along with that I went into the Sound Settings and adjusted: Synchronous Mode as I don't get a problem reaching/staying near 60 fps; Sound Core is Direct Sound Interface; Changed Interpolation to Cosine (slowest, sounds best) After doing so and restarting the emulator and ROM, it is now running smooth and the sound issues are removed, save for an occasional single pop noise (may be indistinguishable, but I'm looking for it). Not sure where the issue is stemming from as I'm a n00b in this arena, but it's enough that I'd prefer to play the game in that emulator at this time and keep testing other ROMS with melonDS. Here are the builds of each emulator in the testing: melonDS 0.8.1 DeSMUme 0.9.11 x64 |

thank youuu this made games run like normal for me, after limiting fps to 60 on desmume at least. it sucks there isn't these options in melonDS, the picture is a lot better in melon.
but I'll be sticking with desmume because of the audio thing. |

Appreciated. Just wanted to share what I could to contribute to the project. |
