This bug is a very simple one. In Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, the game will crash when certain movie files are played with a crackling sound in the left ear. Currently, I know that the action icon tutorial will crash the emulator when played.

EDIT: Issue still occurs on version 0.7.4
ADDENDUM: All versions of melonDS will crash when attempting to play the POW move tutorial FMV. See below video

No, this bug does not occur in pre-0.7.1 versions. (tested using 0.6)

Then again, many people aren't going to be rushing out to play Sonic Chronicles on melonDS, it's kind of a sub-par RPG. But this may be linked to other issues. I'll try out more games with FMV video and keep this thread updated if I find anything else.

The game uses the actIMAGINE video codec, if that's of any use

I know this is a rather old post, but I figured I can respond here rather than clog up the forums with a new post about the exact same issue. I can confirm that it still happens on melonDS 0.8.3, yet in desmume, it doesn't seem to be an issue at all, with or without advanced bus-level timing. I am using desmume 9.12 release. Considering the videos in the previous posts are gone, I can provide new ones if needed.

well, I find a crash point in the very beginning. from what I observe, it started breaking in melonDS 0.7.3.

gonna backtrack it to find the exact commit that broke it.

I don't think you need a savefile. It crashed at the very first tutorial video for me. I managed to get past it using DeSmuME, however I rescind my previous statement of it having "no issue at all". When I reach the second tutorial given via FMV, it crashes regardless of whether advanced bus-level timing is on or off. It crashes slightly earlier if it is off.

I can't test if that specific video is broken on melonDS, because I can't remember how to import saves at the moment. It's been a while.

EDIT: Figured out how to import my save, and I can confirm that the POW video is broken on melonDS as well. It crashes right at the beginning of the video though, instead of halfway through.

EDIT 2: On the 9.11v of DeSmuME, that particular video works just fine. Really odd.
