I've just booted up my DQ IX Rom and the first cutscene has a frame lag/freeze and then plays again but the image stays stuck. I trust pause and run again didnt work, save/load abuse didnt work and i tried another ROM thinking it was that cause but it wasnt... why is this the case and how can i fix this? (i've tried save during those cutscenes and load again but then the graphics is VERY buggy and will just stop after another few seconds). |

sounds like a compatibility issue with melonDS. not much you'll be able to do there. ____________________ Kuribo64 |

DQ9 runs fine in MelonDS 0.8.3 for me (played through the first 10 hours or so of the game without issue). It's not flawless - there's some cosmetic issues with text rendering in the OpenGL renderer, and I have to change the openGL renderer's internal resolution once after launching the game or all the 3D graphics look glitchy.
I haven't tried running the game with the software renderer; it's possible that your issue might be isolated to that, without actually trying it myself? |

the OpenGL renderer has issues with texture alignment, I know what the source of those is but it's tricky to fix properly.
you can try the software renderer, it should render those correctly, but it doesn't support upscaling. ____________________ Kuribo64 |

Thanks for the reply! As it is, with DQ9, just cranking the render resolution high makes the text issues minor enough to not really be noticeable unless staring hard at the screen for them; they're more noticeable at lower render resolutions, whereas if I just crank it up to 8x it looks fine. |
